Clinical Social Worker – Challenge Program

Beth attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2017.  She completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2019. Beth’s career in social work began in special education, working as a school-based social worker in a Title I private separate day school for students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. She also worked for the Autism Waiver program as a family consultant. She is a licensed clinical social worker in Texas, Maryland & Florida.

Beth relocated to Texas at the end of 2022 and began working for the TIRR Challenge Program at Kirby Glen. The Challenge Program provides a comprehensive range of services to help brain injury and stroke survivors maximize their potential, celebrating milestones and successes through each step of recovery. Specialized services focus on community integration skills critical for the transition to independent living, school, work or volunteer activities following brain injury. This outpatient day treatment approach addresses the physical abilities, memory strategies, interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills needed for long-term success.

She started the Young Adult Brain Injury Support group through TIRR in 2023 after noticing that there was a gap in social-emotional supports offered to the younger population. She continues to run this group each month alongside another social worker from the TIRR Woodlands Challenge Program. Beth also runs a post-Challenge support group, which was started by a former patient in 2017 and continues to meet monthly. She is passionate about working with individuals across the lifespan with a range of disabilities, an active member of the National Association of Social Workers, and a proud Baltimore Orioles fan!
